does anyone else feel that the rationalists want a future of a billion trillion virtual humans, each and every one with an immutable gender bit set?
Twitter's main issue is that it's not really very big. It wasn't big even pre-Musk. If you have the choice between advertising on a really big social network (Meta (=FB, IG, Whatsapp...)) with a functioning trust & safety team and ad brokers who take you seriously and don't accuse you of being woke, and one which has way smaller reach, no T&S to speak of, and whose owner can use his outsized influence to call your CEO a pedo whenever the ketamine kicks in, the choice is clear.
The net downvotes are the rest of the community frantically whispering "FFS Roko keep our racism on the down-low!"

Russian propagandists tell people what they want to hear. For longtermists like Muskovitj, it's fear of Global Thermonuclear War. For trads, it's Orthodox faith and subjugation of women. For fascists, it's implied antisemitism and general racism. For tankies, it's having a counterweight to American imperialism.
The stupid thing is that medium to long term, Musk would sell more Teslas and Starlinks to a free unoccupied Ukraine than a broke Russia under permanent sanctions. But I guess he finds the other arguments intriguing.
