I don't hate teams but I hate that call ringtone. I get triggered everytime I hear it 😂

Haha, to each their own I guess.

My desktop environment of choice would be XFCE. It's simply easy to configure while not giving me choice fatigue like KDE does. Also I don't like Qt for some reason.

GNOME is great but I find their extensions to be super clunky sometimes. Some of them even break in between updates. The main selling point of gnome (for me) is the minimal look and feel, extensions kind of ruin that a little bit.

Don't get me wrong plasma and Gnome are wonderful DEs but XFCE provides a simple and balanced desktop IMO. The only thing that's missing is full Wayland support.

P.S : Anyways most of the time I would be running a window manager instead of a DE, my current favourite Wayland window-manager is Labwc because it gives me openbox vibes.

Try logging into anilist in a browser that has been installed as a native package. Then temporarily set it as the default browser and open Miru then try 'login with anilist' .

This worked for me.

Stremio with Torrentino also works.

Haven't tried Miru, thanks for suggesting. I'll check it out.

Some sort of journaling really helps when you feel like you have no direction. You can turn back the pages and see what path you took and even identify some ideas or values you want to implement in your life moving forwards. I recommend a notebook instead of a digital notes app.

This is a habit that I formed fairly recently 3-4 years ago I think. Initially I was writing down on smaller notepads which tend to get filled up quickly. Now I use a dotted notebook, so that I can draw something if I need to (although unruled notebooks also work)

Don't obsess over decorating it like the bullet journal folks do on YouTube/Instagram and if you are thinking of using apps like obsidian or logseq - don't go too far down the rabbit hole , just write down something instead.

You can have something like tasks.org for todos (organize your day) and a physical notebook to develop a vision (get some direction in your life)

Haha I was also going to comment the same thing.

OP may be out on a trek while gentoo is compiling at home.

It's been just over a month using Fedora silverblue (Ublue ) for me and the experience has been pretty good.

What I do is just setup a distrobox container with the arch image and install software using paru from AUR. So far this workflow has been working really well. for me.

Also if you decide to use any Ublue spin, you'll also get homebrew pre-installed. So that can also be considered as an alternative option to AUR.

If you are using a lemmy app on your phone, switch to the list view so that the thumbnail becomes smaller and the title important parts appear easily interactable.

Yeah boost is definitely good, it was my main app until a few months ago. Recently I have been trying Connect, which is another great app.

Connect has improved a lot since I first tried it, also doesn't have any ads. But all things considered - Boost is bit more polished than connect.

I think it's the Boost app.

Have you tried Floorp yet ? It's pretty good, you may find some things really neat coming from Vivaldi.

I have never used esim, but I'm considering trying it out on my Samsung galaxy s23.

The thing is - I will probably unlock my device when the warranty period is over. So If I unlock the device while esim is enabled, what will happen to the esim(s) ?

Will I have to register for a new esim or use my physical SIM card again to get back my esim ?

I have an rx 6600 and 16gb of ram and an i5 10400f

I am using oobabooga web-ui and I happened to have a gguf file of LLama2-13B-Tiefighter.Q4_K_S .

But it always says that the connection errored out when I load the model.

Anyway, please suggest any good model that I can get started with.

I just got a AMD RX6600 because I was having issues with my old gtx 1660 super. It's not a big upgrade but I got this card for $120 (and it was only lightly used for 5 months by the seller).

I wanted to give wayland a try and It was working fine for a few hours but now, the screen blacks out every time I open or close an application.

I have tried restarting, logging out and logging back in. Also updated the system, mesa packages etc. (This is on a fresh install of Opensuse Tumbleweed, but I also had the same issue on my Artix install with xfce)

~~Strangely enough, the issue doesn't seem to affect my Hyprland session much.~~ Now it's also coming in my Hyprland session.

The GPU works fine on Windows too. No black screen there.

EDIT: I fixed it. I enabled the packman repo at some point, which had slightly older packages and that caused the problem. Everything got sorted out once I deprioritized the packman repo and updated the system.

I have a gtx 1660 super which turns off in the middle of doing something. I don't get any output to my monitor and even restarting doesn't solve the problem. It is quite random and very frustrating to say the least. The only solution I have now is to wait for an hour or so and restart - I'll get display output if I'm lucky.

When the gpu stops, the motherboard debug led doesn't light up. The led lights up only when I restart the PC.

Is there any way to check if the issue lies with the motherboard or the gpu without using another graphics card ?

(I dont have integrated graphics either, because I have an i5 10400f)

My motherboard is - MSI B460 M Pro VDH wifi

EDIT: Got a 4 month used rx 6600 for ~ $120 and now this problem no longer happens. it's not a substantial upgrade from my 1660 Super but an upgrade nonetheless.

My grandfather has an old redmi note 9 pro which was slowing down so much and was having a lot of issues with call connectivity.

Outgoing calls won't connect and incoming calls would hangup automatically, so It was kind of impossible to use the phone for calls.

I unlocked the device and flashed a few roms based on android 13 and android 14, but all of them had the same issues with calls.

So if it is a hardware problem, will Xiaomi service centers accept it ?

I have been interested in psychology lately and was wondering if there is anything out there like the 'Philosophize This' podcast but for psychology.

I just need to dip my toes into a topic and if I'm interested I can read books about it later.

I only have a few local news website and a few tech news feeds like arstechnica. But most of the tech news I get is from Lemmy itself.

I would love to spice up my Feeds. I know that I can get OPML files from sources like these , instead I thought I'd ask the wonderful people here.

I was wondering if these were edible or not.

First and foremost, This is kind of a rant. I do not like horror games. I have never played any 'strictly horror' ones before. And yes I get scared easily.

My friends bought a new game called Lethal company and I didn't know what it was until they showed me some clips of it. For the first time ever, I thought a survival horror game would be fun. So I went ahead and purchased it on steam.

While playing the game I did get jumpscared without fail almost all of the time (God I hate that feeling). I also liked the proximity chat audio and the way it fades as the people move further away from each other.

After playing for 1.5 hours I found it to be very repetitive and boring but my friends seemed to be enjoying it. Now that I notice, the game has overwhelmingly positive ratings on Steam and many youtubers and streamers have reviewed the game very positively. Which led me to think, if I'm playing it the wrong way or something.

So is this one of those games which grows on you as you play ? Or will it be the same gameplay loop ?

For those who don't know Hermit is a lite apps viewer that also provide sandboxing capabilities to some extent.

One could argue that Firefox with the right addons would be a better alternative, but even so I would like to know if such an app exists.

I have an Benq EX2510 (the older model from 2020) and I have a gtx 1660 super with an i5 10400f in my pc. The motherboard is MSI b460 m pro vdh wifi.

This the first time I'm experiencing an issue like this. The monitor loses signal and doesn't even turn back on even on plugging the hdmi cable again. This has been Happening on every single boot for the last 2 weeks.

The monitor literally loses signal even when it's at the bios logo screen or boot menu sometimes.

After it loses signal, the monitor will stay in that state for the next 30 minutes even if I power off the entire system and turn it back on. The monitor does recognizes different input connections although none of them gives any output.

I tried connecting a laptop to the monitor and it seemed to work fine. This leads to me think that something is up with my GPU.

So far I have tried -

  • Different cables - 1 HDMI cable as well as 2 different DP cables but same result.
  • Turning the monitor on after the computer has started.
  • Powering off the monitor and turning it on again.
  • Taking the GPU out of the PCI slot and placing it back in properly.
  • Checked the PCI power connecter for any lose contacts. Also tried with a different PCI power connector.

What do you suggest I do next ?

I apologize in advance if posts like this are not welcome here.

I have a friend circle of 6 guys including me. Before some of us got jobs, we used to play games everyday, hang out together if we are in town. Everyone was chill, enjoyed games more and mostly respected each other to some degree.

After getting jobs we still made time to play and hang out, but not as frequently. I only get time to play games with them on the weekends as my job is in a different time zone. But I still call or text them nearly everyday. Some of them play every single day (kind of addicted to GTA online and valorant for some reason).

But in the last couple of months I have noticed a shift in their behavior. Talking behind each others backs and always getting offended for the silliest of things. This is especially true for those who continued to mindlessly play every single day (they work on the same startup company as well).

I always knew that there was one guy among us who would unnecessarily run his mouth. But I always thought of it as his way of having fun. Mybe it was his way of feeling included. Idk. So I never took any of his ramblings to heart. But everything hits differently now, in a bad way. Every conversation feels like I'm walking on eggshells. Now the others are also starting to become like him.

It's not just me who thought this way. Another guy who have been besties for a long time with the blabbermouth guy personally called me and told that the whole group feels like it's infected by something and shared thoughts similar to mine.

I want to call it out, but i'm not sure how to do that in a thoughtful way. I just want them to reflect on themselves, not that I have any right to say that. I'm not afraid of offending them as it's almost impossible to say anything meaningful without doing so.

Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.
