I'd like to take this oppurtunity to point out that UK plugs are, by a long shot, the best plugs.

They have ground. They slot in and stay in. The structure of the plug means that the wire comes out the bottom and not the back, which is better for plugging stuff in behind furniture.

Basically every other plug-type is ass compared to UK plugs.

Wait, this isnt just a pic of J. D. Vance?

Wealthy American conservatives and Russian oligarchs previously spent the bulk of the money on anti-gender advocacy in Europe. Today, 73% of the overall cash pot comes from EU donors, with Hungary, France, and Poland standing out as the countries with the largest funders.

Hungary — a country whose prime minister, Viktor Orbán, has styled himself as a defender of Western Christian civilisation — has been at the forefront of that effort.

“If you dig enough, you can find that they [conservative entities] are all funded by some Hungarian state entity of some sort,” Datta, the author of the EPF report, said.

Overall, the European donor base spans a heterogenous alliance of moneyed aristocrats, ultra-conservative tech entrepreneurs, and ideologically aligned businesses. Alongside private donors, the report uncovered that a critical amount of money — at least $171 million or 14% of the total amount — stems from EU public funding.

When it comes to public funding, the political patronage model outlined by Datta showed that not only governments, but also the EU itself has systematically channelled cash to anti-gender groups disguised as youth organisations via its Erasmus programme — including the World Youth Alliance (WYA), a Catholic NGO that lobbies against abortion in family planning, since 2009.

So here's the targets:

Moneyed aristocrats, ultra-conservative tech entrepreneurs, and ideologically aligned businesses.

The question we have to ask here, if we want to help, is how can we subvert and counteract their efforts.

I want to add before I continue that these are just some kernels of ideas. I'm not a specialist in all these areas. And I'd hope that others could take some of these ideas and bring their own skills ans input. I dont expect everyone reading this to have the ability to do all of these things; but I think its a fair assumption that collectively, with he enough people who give a shit about this cause, we can actually make some difference by working together.

Bring Money to the Cause

Obviously you can donate to groups that fight to promote LGBTQ rights, and particularly trans rights. But I doubt you're all that wealthy.

I think its pretty obvious looking at the targets, that they're not all that ideologically motivated, but rather, monetarily motivated. So if we want to counteract this, we need to draw more wealthy monitarily motivated people to the trans cause.

I appreciate that this is deeply cynical. But frankly, the people who are suffering because of this need actual help, not principles.

Syphon Money from the Anti-Trans Cause

It occurs to me that when you have this much money pouring into a movement, then there's the oppurtunity for exploitation.

  • Set up fake anti-trans groups. Seek funding. Funnel the funding back to the trans cause.
  • Set up fake anti-trans sites and promote them. Take the donations, funnel them back to the trans cause.
  • Look for exploitations in current anti-trans sites and attack them.

DDoSing to bring the site down. XSRF to get the database and identify the doners. XSS to trick doners into giving us money. There are people who know a lot more about this shit than me. And guess what, you can pay them to do this.

Attack the Source

Looking at the figures, we can see that the majority of money here comes from Hungary. So, how can hurt these people?

I'm not familiar enough with the current political situation in Hungary (aside from Orban). But I assume there is an opposition.

Can we get money to mainstream and extremist opposition factions? I'll leave this one for someone who knows more about it than me.

From Nancy's wiki:

Mace worked for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign,[4] but strongly condemned his actions surrounding the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack. She asserted that Trump's legacy had been "wiped out" and that he should be held "accountable" for his actions. She later voted against impeaching him,[5][6] and, in 2024, endorsed him in the Republican presidential primary.

In case you're wondering about the kind of spineless sack of shit Nancy is.

In 2004, she earned a master's degree in journalism and mass communication from the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.[12][13]

In case you're wondering whether her discrimination is the product of stupidity or calculated malice.

I mean some people might be into that.

Ideally in real life you'd use guns and bombs instead of showing them a tattoo.

Do we know how the age verification process is gonna work or is this gonna be one of those neoliberal dystopian spystate kinda deals where the means of data collection is left to corporations only to be subsequently tapped by the state when the want to target individuals?

[–] gwilikers@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Absolutely. Super easy to use this in blackmail. Especially in a country as repressed as the UK.

“This is not a plastic problem, but a waste management failure. It is the failure of plastic waste management that leads to pollution, not the material itself,” said Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director General of MAN.

Want to make the world a better place? Kill this man.

Oh really? I thought it was booze.

Who are the other two cunts anyway?

[–] gwilikers@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Absolutely.

Northern Irish Civil Rights movement had the IRA. Women's Suffrage had the Suffregetes

All of these movements allowed the peaceful side to present the same terms:

'You deal with me or you deal with the other guy.'

Nyaa.Land is my goto for manga torrents but I can't find what I'm looking for (OG Astro Boy) there. The Eng translation of the original torrents is dead.

Are there any other good sites for torrenting manga? I couldn't find anything in the Megathread.

I feel like this might be something that people here have insight on because VPNs seem to trigger Captchas a lot. What can I do to bypass them on desktop and android?

I don't like using reddit. But sometimes I have to while looking something up. However, I get this message when I have Mullvad turned on that reads You've been blocked by network security.

How do I bypass this? Changing VPN locations doesn't seem to affect it. I don't want to turn my VPN off for reddit.

I'm currently working on a project in C where I have a choice between using a library for hash tables or simply creating my own hash table from scratch.

What would look better on a Github portfolio from an employability perspective?

I'm looking at getting started in cybersecurity. I'm hoping to pass the CompTIA Security+ this month. Are there any projects that I could work on to improve my résumé?

I currently have a load of pirated games and I'm considering moving my systems to Linux cuz Windows is ass. Would this make it difficult to run pirated games?

What software have you found particularly frustrating or difficult to configure on Linux?

I've noticed a general sentiment that printing on Linux is (or at least was) extremely cumbersome and difficult. Why is that?

Looking for a good app launcher for Linux. Currently looking for something for Arch and I see there's a lot of options liks rofi and wofi. What are your favourite app launchers and why?

I'm sure there are orgs that audit FOSS code for security and privacy. Could you guys let me know what some of the main orgs that do this? Do you have any ones you like in particular.
