On my xps 13 9370 I run endeavourOS without a hitch.
I don't wanna be an ubuntu hater, but apart from lubuntu for quick recoveries. I never had good luck making hardware work right with ubuntu.
Debian, arch and fedora always worked way better out of the box on bare metal.
I don't have much advice in whats best, I would guess Github indeed followed by review and uploading important things to internet archive.
But I wanted to just be thankfull, preserving old media is extremely usefull and without people like you who wanna do it. I wouldn't have been able to play some old obscure games I remember from my youth. Or old software like goomaker 5.4 (it distorted images to make funny faces)

I have 2 cats, but have a room dedicated to sheltering old cats. Tl;dr I'm a palliative care unit for a local shelter and I deal with a lot of loss.
What keeps me going is that I do truly believe I give them the best "end" of their life and that even of their stays are short. I gave them all the love I have.

Knowing the frame material will help.
Wood you can gently steam and then bend back to where it lays flat. Lightly steam is the key word. Anything too damp and it will warp more.
Plastic can be heated to pull flat, but depends a lot on what and how.
If it a canvas, try to see if pulling one corner doesnt make it flat. That means it needs a staple or 2 to pull it tight.
Megarace.. one of the first games I bought because the boxart spoke to me. Stayed for the music and vibes but never fully understood the game. (I was 5-6)

My attainable dreamcar right now is a ID.buzz because I could take it anywhere and camp around. (But its overpriced).
Any JDM makes me soft, but can't find modded or trashed ones where I am so they are not the way for me. I need a daily driver.
My all time dreamcar is the Lamborghini Siesto Elemento but is unobtainium.

I do realize I only used debian for server type stuff where I didnt need a GUI so the stakes where a lot lower than for the others.
