Indonesia did not start being homophobic with American involvement, and a single elected communist is not a history of LGBT acceptance.

And how does Iran installing a homophobic leader after deposing the American/British puppet somehow show it was the fault of colonialism? It wasn't colonialism that forced homophobia on the locals, western homophobia was clearly too lenient for the domestic culture.

I personally know non-muslim brown people called "Terrorist" in predominantly white school districts in the early 2010s. This racism didn't go away, and it won't go away by demanding people to surrender their religion in the name of anti-homophobia. Doing so, claiming they're generally homophobic is the same as generalizing them all as terrorists.

Calling out the pattern of homophobia in Christianity isn't "demanding people surrender their religion" it's demanding that people find a way to practice their faith without mistreating others.

Likewise, identifying a similar pattern in Islam is not demanding they give up their faith. Caring about the lives of queer people, even in brown countries, is important.

It's not a generalization. Surveys across the Muslim world have been done many times, and the vast majority of people are open about their hate. A supermajority in many Muslim nations advocate the death penalty for homosexuality.

You have to ignore what these groups openly proclaim to believe they are tolerant of LGBT people.
