What confuses me is, although cable tram is perfectly fine, that in my mind a tram is like an omnibus with steel wheels on rails, not a cabin hanging from a cable (without any wheels or even an engine). Even a funicular is closer to a tram.

What do you call it?

Seilbahn. To be fair tram (the thing with wheels on rails) is called Straßenbahn here. So a literal translation of Seilbahn could be cable tram... Um cable car?

Sometimes a tram is made from one or more Straßenbahnwagen (tram car or streetcar). Funny that it is called streetcar but drives on rails and cars which drive on streets aren't.:)

And then the word Seilbahn is used for both, a funicular or a cable car. Although there is the word Standseilbahn for the second.

Meh. Languages are strange.

Yes. The blind in the right eye symptom seems to be real. Sadly.

It doesn't change anything about the compact verdict from my point of view. But this injustice feels unfair and people do not feel represented and protected by the state (with the known consequences). The state has the Gewaltmonopol (monopoly on the use of force). For me this implies, that the state has the duty to nvoke its rights equally, regardless of the side.

The Bundesverwaltungsgericht says no. And constitutional scholars state that one has to endure uncomfortable and ugly opinions (Freiheit Tag und Nacht aushalten, goes the saying, I heard.)

It is stated that hate speech and anti-constitutional tendencies are protected under free speech as long as they are not personal insults or Incitement to ethnic or racial hatred. The Bundesverwaltungsgericht came to the verdict, that compact didn't do that, I guess? My last data point stems from a comment by Tilmann Steffen in die Zeit about the begin and the goals of the trial.

To be clear, I'm worried about the current up-rise of right wing parties and groups in Europe (and about the success of the politians who make these extremist statements their own, to gain influence). But I wouldn't want to ignore constitutional rights to protect the constitution.

That abstraction layer is correct, I think.

The thing with abstraction layers is: they are made to simplify a context. This makes it easier to understand and to see correlations and processes. It also hides details of the picture.

As far as I know there are people in Russia who work for their own goals. Those bridges don't collapse themselves and it takes someone to derail a train or sabotage a helicopter or provide intelligence about movements.

Yes. Most people just eat the propaganda or at least don't act up to evade repression (if they would care enough to do so otherwise). That's normal human behavior, it's no Russian specialty. Can you think of a current critical situation which would need immediate wide-spread attention, but people tend to ignore it?

Meh. I don't see much steering room for their course. It isn't Russia by the way, it's Putin and his regime.

Just a lengthy text to collect some of my thoughts.

I can't think of any reason but the bomb if one has 60%+ Uran in bigger quantities and rockets with the ability to carry 2 tonne warheads. They did some steps on that road, it seems to me.

And there is that regime's head with that one idea of an almight being that you have to please. And his will to cling to power in Iran no matter what. Makes you think if that guy seeks redemption in the next world in which case, destroying Israel and getting annihilated in return is the logical course. Or if he seeks to keep his power in this world which would forbid that. Or first one thing and then the other - he's not the yougest anymore.

The regime in Iran shouldn't be in place. But what action to take is for their people to decide. It's hard to near impossible for the people of Iran to overthrow that regime. But that doesn't legitimate an attack. (It wouldnt free the people or would it? Who would fill the void if the regime is gone?)

If I imagine myself on the opposite side of the table on Iran's side, there is not much reason to trust the US and I would seek for ways to arm myself.

Also having the option of building the bomb is a bargaining chip for them. Even if you wouldn't intend to go through with it.

And then there is the statement of the US secret service that Iran is not even close to the bomb. (Like Irak didn't have WMD but it was the US' casus belli for the war. Iran supported the US back then btw., but it didn't help their relations.)

And then there is the chain of actions and events in favor of Israel (Hisbollah weakened, Syria's regime overthrown and their air force destroyed) which lead to the opportunity to attack the now weakened Iran. Having those Israeli agents inside Iran and the attack plans in place tells me, that is has been planned for months or years. Same goes for the Hisbollah pagers.

I'm not in favour of any war - It didn't help Afghanistan or Irak much, it only stirs unrest but doesn't help the people. So sanctions against Israel would be the way to go. I don't think Iran will have the A-bomb armed and ready soon. And I want Iran to have democratic or at least secular gouvernment, which can't be achieved from the outside, only. But I'm sitting at the side line and have not much at stake here.

No. I want my max. 25°C back. And a cloudy sky please. Maybe some fog or rain for the mood and Petrichor?
