This post seemed to put things in context a bit better as it sounds like Google's two-proxy hopping is what Apple does as well:

The difference (AFAIK) is that Apple's business is less-centered around profiting off users' data, so they're less liable to use the data, while Google will almost certainly use the data.

My impression
tldr/cheat: Explains most popular arguments using as little words as possible
man: Explains the entire command using a more technical tone
info: Explains the entire command in slightly more informal tone. Can feel wordier as a result, but on the flipside it connects alternative/related commands in a logical way

If nothing else, the article is great for a breakdown of the features of Firefish. I've been a user for 2-3 months and didn't know a lot of the info covered.

On a related note, I was on firefish.social but it was very buggy for me after a while. Thought about throwing in the towel but eventually realized that it was instance specific.

I have since migrated to calckey.world (Calckey -> Firefish instance that didn't change its name) and the experience has been buttery smooth.

Say what you will about the seemingly 'half-pregnant' approach, but I'm running a Debian laptop/desktop/server thanks to being able to dip my toes in via WSL (and truly testing the water via Crostini that did the trick).

Today's WSL user is tomorrow's Linux convert after a few more negative articles and BSODs

The lure of far right themes are globalized admittedly

  • Hates migrants
  • Ravaged by a drug crisis
  • Glorifies the past as a 'simpler' time (even while acknowledging that this time had apartheid)

From MAGA to South Africa to Eastern Europe

Mines too. Glad it's happening tho to circumvent the e-waste from those that aren't as aware/adventurous.

Beat me to it. I wouldn't give viewership to Fox News to watch conservatives get 'owned'

There's a general selection bias in the fediverse, and the idea of decentralizing power is pretty communistic and also pretty beneficial to people who feel oppressed (transgenders).

Most new waves have a strong bias when you think about it. For example, crypto has a strong tilt towards Libertarianism and deregulation

Historically, the guy that fought against apartheid is unlikely to commit genocide.

There's no definitive 'ever' in anything though. History has a few democratically-elected populist-turned-dictators if memory serves me right

I am not an expert, but I don't think there's a "good for one crash" stamp or anything on the recorders, so I'd imagine that since they're made as indestructible as possible, they could survive multiple plane crashes
