Could anyone explain how this works? Where do I get location data from? iPhone?

Life and the world wasn't as dangerous. It was easier, less stressful. Simpler ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes! Hate it - also the speedometer shows 2kmh more than you actually are driving. So in reality it starts to plingplingpling when you go 38 in a 40 zone ๐Ÿคฌ

Hyndais in Eu has Carplay, and Ithink Hyundai is among the first that has signed up for the new CarPlay too

Hyundai - sluggish infotainment and super nagging with beeps upon beeps.

No reason to carry knives in public, but knives shouldn't be banned. Knives have many useful applications in daily life. Compared to guns, it takes rather a long time to kill several persons with a knife compared to a gun - guns are by magnitudes more dangerous and lethal.

Bow and arrow, baseball bat etc. etc. all could be weapons, but the problem with guns is the speed it can kill multiple persons.

  1. USB cable from iPhone to PC.
  2. Sort by date in filemanager.
  3. Copy all images since last date backed up to my PC.
  4. Review and delete crappy images.
  5. Move to my NAS via filemanager.
  6. Create a textfile called t.ex. 07juli (so that next time I know to copy files after this date, since I like to keep most pics on my phone).

Do this once or twice a month :)

Dune game (lemmy.world)

Loving the new Dune game so far. Impressed by the graphics and details ๐Ÿ˜Š Highly recommend if you like the Dune story. Hope they manage to tweak close combat though, it could be better.

Everything seems fine, but I have no network access ๐Ÿ˜… happened after I restarted for a System update. Can't figure out what is wrong - help please ๐Ÿ˜Š Wired connection.

Enabled Wifi, but same problem; connect but cannot reach gateway. (other computers and pads are connected, and they work fine).

Question for those of you living in a country where marijuana is legal. What are the positive sides, what are the negatives?

If you could go back in time, would you vote for legalising again? Does it affect the country's illegal drug business , more/less?

Hi! If I am going to start to play Wow now (never played). What/where/how? Blizzard's page has several Wows๐Ÿ˜… Where do I start? Classic?

Sign here to support the EU's "STOP destroying videogames"

This initiative calls to require publishers that sell or license videogames to consumers in the European Union (or related features and assets sold for videogames they operate) to leave said videogames in a functional (playable) state.

Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher.

The initiative does not seek to acquire ownership of said videogames, associated intellectual rights or monetization rights, neither does it expect the publisher to provide resources for the said videogame once they discontinue it while leaving it in a reasonably functional (playable) state.

Any good European sport watches?

Was going to buy a new run watch, and thought I would switch from Garmin to Suunto. Sent a mail to customer support, and got an auto reply that Suunto is moving operation to China. Including app and userdata ๐Ÿ˜ข

Asked AI to break it down for me: This privacy policy update indicates some significant changes to how Suunto will handle your data, particularly regarding operations in China. Here's what it means for your privacy concerns:

Key Changes:

  • Suunto is transferring several key operations to their Chinese group companies, including customer service, repairs, web operations, and app development
  • These Chinese entities will now jointly collect and process your personal data alongside Suunto Oy (the main Finnish company)
  • Data will be transferred from the EU to China, which lacks GDPR-equivalent privacy protections

Privacy Implications:

  • Your personal data (likely including running routes, fitness metrics, location data, and account information) will now be processed in China
  • China has significantly different data privacy laws than the EU, with fewer protections for individual privacy and more government access
  • While Suunto mentions using "standard contractual clauses" (SCCs) to protect data, these are a legal mechanism that many privacy experts consider insufficient when transferring data to countries with intrusive surveillance laws

What This Means For You:

  • If you purchase a Suunto watch and use their services after October 10, 2024, your data will be subject to these new arrangements
  • Your running data, location information, and personal details would potentially be accessible to Chinese authorities under Chinese law
  • The Chinese companies will have access to and control over many aspects of your customer experience

If privacy is a significant concern for you, you might want to:

  1. Consider alternative sports watch brands with different data policies
  2. Research how data localization works with specific models (some watches can function with limited cloud connectivity)
  3. Review the full privacy policy to understand exactly what data is collected and how it's used
