And what happens if something unexpected (e.g. badly signalized road works) comes up? With current implementations you can you take over. But what do you do without wheel?

TIL that you can do that

I'm not a fan of musk but I have to say he gets a lot of things done. He promises really big stuff and does not deliver half of those but it's still something.

When he decides to build a tesla factory it gets done in reasonable time. We need people like him in charge of public infrastructure projects, especially in Germany.

The rest of him is shit though

Some men just want to see the world burn

There aren't lots of compact devices that are upgradable, even on windows. Most use soldered ram and flash storage.

The concept is cool but I think it is more sustainable to have a high end "normal" android phone. The Fairphone ships with a lowend chip that is already older. It may be usable now but it won't be in a few years apps and OS will be more ressource-intensive. A high-end chip of a "normal" device (8gen1/2) is way more powerful and will surely be enough for the next 5 years. The SD750G will propably not.

Not to mention that the software updates will be more reliable on big brand phones.

The main thing I would like to host is a VPN. I pay for mullvad but a lot of their ips are blacklisted. Which is why I'd like a cheap vps to selfhost openvpn to circumvent censorships on some free wifi networks that I use, while also keeping my data private.

This site for example advertises itself as privacy friendly. Is there any reason not to trust it?

And I am not talking about illegal stuff just want to make sure they dont snoop into what services I am selfhosting without reason

This is great. Even as a windows user I never saw a guide this good that talks about all drm solutions. Thanks for sharing your exertise. @Mods please add this to the Megathread
