Can you explain how this is a Labour issue?
The privatization happened under Tories (Thatcher), the whole setup of that scheme has had plenty of time under Tory for years and years of rule where they made sure all that you complain about actually happened.

Labour has been in power for what, 6 months now? And all this is because of ... Labour?

Seriously, educate me on how this is the fault of Labour and why you fail to mention it all started and matured under Tory rule.

You got some good replies and I personally am enamored by LocalSend, it is worth checking it out.

However, there is a simple way if a) you use whatsapp and b) the devices involved have access to whatsapp.
This involves not just sending files but you can send text and whatever whatsapp supports and you'll have a history of these chats should you need to have them later again. Probably possible with other platforms but I use whatsapp so that is what I setup for information transfer to myself.
The thing you want to do is create a chat group, add a friend for a very brief moment, remove said friend again after they accepted, enjoy your private group where you can dump any and all info into and pick up from wherever you have whatsapp available. The trick is to add a friend for a couple of seconds. If you create a group you are automatically in it but you cannot use it until you add someone else, then it becomes active and use-able. The fact that you end up alone in that group does not make it unavailable again. Weird but it works.

My collection of straight razors.

Most are made somewhere in the last century, some are even older then that. These have a theoretical lifespan as sharpening them will remove the tiniest bit of metal but as I have 100+ of them I think I will never ever have to buy a razor again in my life. Heck, even my children and their grandchildren will be able to use them. If they have the nerve and courage to use them that is.

Used to mess around with multiple Apache Proxy Servers. When I left that job I found Docker and (amongst other things) NPM and I swear, I stared at the screen in disbelief on how easy the setup and config was. All that time we wasted on Apache, the issues, the upgrades, the nightmare in setting it all up...

If I were to do that job again I would not hesitate to use NPM 100% and stop wasting my time with that Apache Proxy mess.

Flickering of video player when partially shown

I noticed this behavior, the video player starts flickering when partially hidden. So whenever I scroll and that video player starts to get hidden, it detracts my attention due to that flickering. Nothing functionally wrong, just annoying 😀

Edit: gave up on posting mp4, mov, webm, gif, via imgur, etc. Gods, sharing media is horrible in Lemmy.

Why for (example) would this not work?

Imagine a webpage where 2/3 of a video player is visible and it flickers

Chances of me encountering a Polar bear are practically non-existing, as would encountering a Mountain lion for that matter, but I know I would be infinitely more scared for a Polar bear.

The cat might be hungry, might be just curious but will probably leave you alone.

A Polar bear though? If you see it, it already knows about you (heard, smelt or seen you) and you can count on 1 of 2 things happening from that moment on. 1) it is contemplating how to hunt you or 2) it is already actively hunting you.

The thing is, for a Mountain lion there are possibilities of food besides you. You are a big risk for that lion and it will most probably go for easier options. For a Polar bear it is a must to hunt you as the opportunities to get food on polar regions is infinitesimally smaller than on other hunting grounds where Mountain lions would hunt.

Mountain lions would get my hair to stand on end and make me alert but I walk on nonetheless.
Polar bears would send me running for the nearest concrete hut and hope the door will hold.

Indeed, making the browser larger then shows the community sidebar and that button to hide it. Guess that is clear then. Ideally that space would re-size with what is given, up to. point where it cannot show anymore community sidebar info but hey, at least now I know why it was/is hidden!

Those buttons below the banner make a lot of sense!

I'm using Voyager on mobile and started to use Tesseract on desktop. I'm also hosting Tesseract on my own server with Docker.

I seem to see a different UI then you do for some reason:

The community card is always on top it seems, at least for me, in any view type I choose. You can also see that the right sidebar/panel is empty:

I did realize that when clicking the community details you get the option to post in the community itself. I just thought it would make sense that when in a community, I get a button/option to create a new post in that community and not have to fill in the community name. For me it makes way more sense to have a button in the posts list/view (any type tbh) that you can always access no matter where you are in that list of posts. It's debatable if that function would make sense when viewing a post.

Thanks for the insane quick response! 😀

Thanks on points 1 + 2, that helps and I am looking forward to see those implemented.
On the last point, I cannot find that "community sidebar button "Create Post"". On the left I see a panel with "Home", "Explore communities", my list of subscribed communities, that kind of thing. I cannot see a new post button. For now I can only see the big plus button on the top-right of the screen and that does not pre-fill the community, as you explained. So if I can train myself on finding and using that button that will pre-fill the community then I'd be set.

...now on the hunt to find that darn button you talk about....

Ok, thanks. I think that the combo Immich and icloudpd seems to be a way forward for now as that combo seems to be able to download iCloud files to local (my server) and delete them from iCloud. Once on my server I can move them to Immich and that should just about be it. Famous last words, I know, but I think it will be fine.
