VPN would still work for iPhone I imagine. Small whitelist of DNS would do 90%+ of the job.

Its not even that IMO this does two very bad things

  1. Anyone that has access to starlink can track their vessel.
  2. Nearby enemy vessels could easily have pin pointed them through the signals being transmitted.

She endagered her crew and lied about it.

Security by obscurity the 100% least effective security measure! Wait what? MS left the government knowingly vulnerable for years for the shareholders?! That's some good security right there!

Reverse proxy and letsencrypt. Doing custom certificates is more difficult and you would need to install and trust the certificate on all devices.

This part is the worst part IMO. Designed a currency conversion system so you always put more money in it than you need to purchase the item this does two things and both are a win for the corporate.

  1. Always have unspent money in the account, so kind of like a bank or gift cards, they get the money earlier when it's worth more and can be utilized to get more faster.
  2. Incentivize the customer to be a repeat customer because you will "waste" your current credits if left unused, so you'll follow the lost cause fallacy when something you want hits the store, but not really need.

Intel NUCs go to Asus for repair now. I had to send one in after it died.

  • The device was not listing as valid serial numbers and such so had to go to support and have them manually create the RMA case after they couldn't do it
  • the initial RMA emails were instructions with different instructions in the email, PDF, and a webpage. It was the most difficult one I had to follow yet.
  • they didn't send me a delivery slip until Monday evening, RMA started on Thursday evening. Support person didn't explain that it would take multiple business days. Funny enough my device was already there before I got the prepaid one.
  • they couldn't find it for 4 weeks, I had to call in like 4 or 5 times for them to finally find it

Everything makes sense now.

Not trying to discredit or anything but in #4 1 shot is surely good compared to emptying his clip, but shooting or aiming a gun at somebody, the intent can't be "non-lethal".

While the CEO didn't unfortunately and I'd consider that an injustice, the other 2 did.

Baugh was among seven former employees who ultimately pleaded guilty to charges in the case. He was sentenced in 2022 to almost five years in prison. Another former executive, David Harville, was sentenced to two years.

Maybe this will be the one thing that will fix my ISP and let me play online video games without frequent disconnects. I think it's bad node or something, but I had my ISP at my house over 8 times and they couldn't figure it out. Meanwhile my unifi gateway shows a high ping at least once a day.

Go spectrum!

Found an article that details it again since it was a fun read at the time. Looks like it was 10MB json file and the method to read the lines used the expensive length function you mentioned. It also had other simple optimizations too.

I believe it was a CSV file of every item in all of the shops (comma separated values) and it was being read and stored into memory single threaded so it was maxing out a single core on the CPU.
