• Compulsory voting and a generally sensible and independent electoral system here
• I get to catch up with some old friends at the weekend
• Summer fruit coming in to season. Blueberries for breakie, yum.

King Island Dairy is closing next year. No more amazing triple cream brie and smoked cheddar. And 60 people losing jobs in a small community. Devastating.

Winter solstice, time to burn stuff and make a joyful noise

Today has been a good day. Lovely sunshine; I've got an interview lined up for next week for a job I really want; I went and checked out some art; I ran into a friend; and I ate cake at Brunetti.

And now I'm home with a fluffy cat on my lap and a cup of tea in my hand.

Today I need to tidy & clean my whole house. So far, I'm on my second pot of tea. Going well.

Party time. By which I mean I'm dusting off the dvd player and the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice, and I'm snuggling in with a blanket and a cat.
