Before leaving reddit, I really enjoyed the mffpc subreddit since I like sff cases but tend to end up building in stuff a little bit bigger than normal SFF. Join the community if you're interested!

For context, this is my first PC build EVER. Not just my first SFF. I'm kind of stuck right now on which to get. The T1 seems to be objectively better designed, but it also seems to be much more for the tinker/SFF enthusiast. Building seems a lot more difficult, plus the warranty doesn't seem to be nearly as good as what I could get on the Terra.

I really don't want to mess up parts, or the case, or anything really. The Terra seems super easy to build in, and is much nicer looking imo. I could snag a nice 4 year warranty, and just have it sit there for a while.

Anyone who was or is in a similar situation as me have advice? It'd be very appreciated.

Hello!! I just built an itx pc for my dad for general office use: Microsoft Word/Excel, internet browsing etc.

The case is inWin chopin pro and it can fit an AMD stock cooler. The only catch was that I had to remove its plastic top off to reduce its height.

I went for 5600g because the price combo CPU+MB on AMD was cheaper than Intel in my country.

Jumped from a 5600X to 5600X3D for a bit more performance and longevity but mostly wanted to reorient my fans against the rad and install the velocity2 CPU block I got for $70 a few months ago.

GPU is an evga RTX3080 12G

Laptop parts into an SFF case might be kind of cheating, but with the amount of effort needed to make everything work for the parts, I think this still counts!

I thought the card looks quite decent specially for sff or htpc builds heck it's even got dedicated raytracing cores

Mini PC performance (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago by Camar16@lemmy.world to c/sffpc@lemmy.world

I'm looking to replace my aging PC that is almost 10 years old. I've been looking at the Minisforum NPB7 and the Minisforum HX99G. I use my computer mostly for YouTube, Minecraft and browsing the web. My concern is, can these mini PCs handle these basic tasks? From my research and reviews, I think they can... Just looking for confirmation. Thanks!

Since I suspect not everyone viewing this thread is a SFF PC enthusiast, SFF PC stands for "Small Form Factor Personal Computer". The community generally likes to categorize any computers under 20 L in volume as a SFF PC.

My PC uses a boutique/enthusiast case called the FormD T1 which is 9.95 L in volume. I can barely hold it in one hand (it's still very heavy though because it's so dense).

LMK if you have any questions about my build or the community in general. Happy to answer questions.

Posted this on r/SFFPC on Reddit, but might as well post here. Build was quite tough due to the AIO + SFX-L combo. The AIO also requires a separate fan/RGB hub, so there ends up being very little room for cable management.

Temps are on the high side, but that was expected with the 13700k and a slightly gimped 240 mm AIO due to having to use a slim fan in the T1. Idle coolant temps are 42 C (ambient ~30 C). Gaming coolant temps between 46 C to 50 C and occasionally up to 52 C, but that's only when my ambient temps are 35 C. My personal danger threshold for the coolant is 55 C, so I try to target under 50 C. CPU temps at load is anywhere from 60 C to 75 C.

Works well though otherwise. Scored 27818 on Cinebench R23, with PL1=PL2=200w, -110 mV offset, Lite Load 1, and LLC 5. CPU temps hit 95 C during the benchmark, and coolant temps hit 52 C.

4090 FE's cooler is overbuilt and idles around 37 C and reaches 65 C at load. A complete non-issue temperature-wise for this build.

Considering moving from my H1 to a Fractal Terra and will need a new cooler. My GPU is a Radeon 6800xt so it’s only two slots and I’ll have room to maximize my cpu cooler. Which would you choose between the two?

As the title says I have a x570 pro wifi motherboard, it has 2 nvme slots and while my first nvme shows up the second does not. I have reinstalled windows 10, updated to latest bios, looked into disk management (not there even after rescan), looked in bios (not there only see my first one) and device managers. (Nvme worked when testing on different motherboard so it should be okay), also reseated it a few times in the process.

What does everyone think about the Beelink? Is this a disposable mini PC or do you think it can last many years?

Years on the waiting and finally a replacement for my fanless Apollo lake home server seems to be on the way! After the disappointments of Jasper lane and prior announcements this one seems for real. 3-4 times better compute metrics and half the power.

Wondering what are others in the community using these days for always-on home server/media streaming needs?

Like my H1 for its footprint but am tired of its thermals. Don’t want the OG meshlicious or the Meshroom because of the shady crap SSUPD pulled with cheating the designer. Was waiting for the FF01 to come out but the Terra came out of nowhere and I’m seriously considering it. It’s a sweet little case and looks great to work in.

Anybody make the move into a Terra from an H1? If so, do you feel like it was a worthwhile switch despite the loss of desk real estate?

Honestly not the easiest build, the EVGA PSU had some issues under load and had to be replaced, and the reseller from AliExpress who painted the case didn't do a phenomenal job. However, it's not easy finding a sub 7L case with front IO so I'm happy with the final product.

I saw the new motherboards coming out with the N100 processor and I think it would make a great little NAS system.

This one has 2x SATA connectors but then it hit me, if the mobo doesn't have a 24-pin connector, how do you power the Sata drives? So far I've only built PCs with a regular PSU so I never wondered.

I think it might be a stupid question :)

This is the mobo https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/N100DC-ITX/index.asp#Overview

280mm AIO kept the 12600K ridiculously cool. Custom 3D printed feet so I wouldn't need to buy a right angled displayport adapter.

Eventually bought a bracket to get a 92mm fan mounted at the top of the case to keep the 3080FE cool in this sandwich layout.

Top fan installed
