Just Checking In (infosec.pub)
submitted 5 months ago by MHSJenkins@infosec.pub to c/sobriety@lemmy.ca

Another sober alcoholic here in the Fediverse, just checking in to see how everyone else is doing. Let me know where you are and how you are if you feel like it. If not, that's ok! I hope you're well and happy!

House guests (lemm.ee)
submitted 6 months ago by JimmyBigSausage@lemm.ee to c/sobriety@lemmy.ca

14 years sober. Just disinvited potential house guests after realizing we might go out for dinner and they might drink and come back to my house having drank. They already know I don’t allow alcohol in my house. But now, I realize I don’t want the people in my house that might be drinking. Staying true to myself. Why does this shit take so long, and why is it so hard?! Reevaluating everything this morning.

Welcome, everyone!

We understand that weekends are triggering for many of us. If you’re finding it tough, we want to remind you that reaching out can be incredibly helpful. Whether it’s leaning on your friends, family, attending meetings, participating in forums, or checking in here, remember that you don’t have to face these challenges alone. Whatever you need to do to stay strong and stay on track, we encourage you to do it. Taking things day by day or even moment by moment is absolutely valid and can be a helpful approach.

Here, you are invited to share your highs and lows, your progress and setbacks, as well as any strategies that have worked for you in navigating recent challenges.

Whether you’re just reading, sharing a little, or sharing a lot, your contributions and presence matter. Glad you’re here.

I tend to lurk in sobriety forums as I'm not fully committed. But as someone in a dysfunctional relationship with alcohol (I'm one of those who can't stop if I get started) hearing the stories of others and seeing the support of the community is inspiring and actually does help me say no to the starting part more than I otherwise would.

And though I tend to lurk, I thought I'd make a post letting other lurkers know its ok to stick around

thank you (lemmy.world)

It's awesome to have this community created. I looked through all of them yesterday looking for this. As someone who struggles with sobriety it's nice to have this space now

Welcome to Sobriety!

As the creator of this space, I saw the need for a dedicated drug and alcohol use support community on Lemmy, and I'm grateful for the chance to be a part of it.

While I may be new to this platform, I am committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and lively community. Together, we will create a space where individuals who have faced challenges with drug and alcohol use can find solace, understanding, and encouragement.

This community is about sharing our stories, celebrating triumphs, and supporting each other through the ups and downs. No matter where you are on your journey, whether it's day 1 or day 1,000, your experiences and presence are valuable and respected. Your courage in taking steps towards a better life is truly commendable.

Let's build a community where we uplift and inspire one another, creating an atmosphere of unwavering support. I am thrilled to be on this journey of recovery with you.

Welcome again, and we're glad you're here.
