We are a Pro-Conservative forum. Posts must have a clear pro-conservative, or anti left-wing bias. We are interested in promoting conservatism and discussing things that might get ignored elsewhere. All sources are acceptable, however reputable sources with a reputation for factual reporting are preferred.

Dissent is allowed in the comments, but try to be constructive; if you do not agree, then provide a reason which is backed up by references or a reasonable alternative interpretation of the provided facts. That means the left wing is welcome to state their opinions, but please keep it in good faith.
A polite request, not a rule, if you feel the need to report a comment, please don't reply to it.
This seems too controversial? I'm not American, I just know what a lot you guys are like when it comes to guns.
Is there a reasonable majority of people who would vote for her with this campaign point?
Yes. We had an Assault Weapons ban until 2004 and after it expired, shootings have become much more common. I would happily vote for a President who is in favor of bringing it back.

But because the 2nd amendment says “the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” we’re supposed to just be ok with people dying from shooters, Americans not brainwashed by the NRA are sick of it.
It’s so bad here that we’re not even allowed to fund studies into the effect of bans because that’s too close to infringing on the 2nd amendment.
The increase in shootings is not because of the availability of AR-15s, it's because of a downward spiral of our society, and a government that has turned its back on the people. It's obviously far more complicated, but I'm sure you are keenly aware of the issues that contribute to the type of mental health issues that produce mass shooters.
The increase in deaths per shooting is due to the gun used, which in my examples were AR-15s.
They were designed to kill many people quickly at a high rate of effectiveness. You don’t need one to protect yourself or hunt, you only need one to kill people.
Funnily enough, the overall homicide rate went down. Only mass shootings went up, and they are microscopic compared to the overall rate.
This is mainly because the AWB was about cosmetic features and not functionality.
What you’re leaving out is that after AWB expired the average number of deaths per shooting went way up, in some cases over 3x compared to the deadliest shootings before AWB.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/interactive/school-shootings-database/
They’re more frequent and deadlier than they were before.
Surely this alone should warrant at least some more studies to see what can be done legislatively?
And AWB covered wayyyyyyyy more than just cosmetics.
Even GHWB banned imported semi-auto rifles because they did not have a legitimate sporting use.
So what? To literally all of that?
So what? So you’re wrong hahahahaha.
Damn, anything to avoid just taking the L.
Blue people will vote for her no matter what, just like red people will vote for trump no matter what. As for purple people, I don't think this is enough to dissuade them from voting against a fascist traitor thief rapist pedophile grifter moron. Purple isn't really voting for Harris, they are voting against trump.
Not a large majority, but we'll find out on voting day exactly how many would, and which way it'll lead.
The AR is America's most common rifle. It's inexpensive, practical, modular, and is really good all around. It's not magic, just a well balanced design.
Most shootings are done with cheap pistols, not rifles.
The reason why politicians go after it is because it's black and scary.
Which gun did that kid use to try to assassinate trump again?
An AR.
Uvalde?
The most commonly available rifle is the one most commonly used? Shocking!
You’re starting to get it. The most commonly available rifle, which was designed to kill many people in a short time, is the weapon of choice for large-scale shootings.
Therefore, I support banning them.
How about Pulse? Columbine? Texas Tech?
Or sandy hook, a Florida high school, a Texas Walmart, a Las Vegas concert, a Pittsburgh Synagogue, or a church in Texas?
Wasn't the synagogue a pistol?
In any case, it's the most popular rifle in America, just by sheer rate it's going to be used more.
Most gun homicides are done with handguns. This is completely off topic, unless you think mass shooting victims are the only real victims or something.
It’s going to be used more for many reasons beyond simply being “popular”:

It’s literally designed to kill a LOT of people. Not hunt, not for sport. Not defense. Murder.
It’s one thing to defend yourself with a gun, I’m not advocating for getting rid of all guns or stopping people from owning a gun. I am however, for a ban on guns designed to kill large amounts of people in a short amount of time, especially when it has been the tool for every mass shooting that has bigger death counts than any others prior to AWB.
Even if that was true, so fucking what?
I deny your fundamental assumptions here, that something should be banned because it can be used to cause a lot of damage.
Murder is illegal, it shouldn't matter the tool used.
Your lack of empathy is showing.
The line is drawn somewhere. Civilians can't purchase automatic weapons or say, hand grenades. Do you think we should be able to?
They can actually. US Law allows the purchase of both.
Both require a background check and a tax stamp.
@wintermute_oregon @zeppo The common line of argumentation I hear from the left on this is actually regarding tanks and RPGs. I get what he's trying to ask here.
You can buy both in America. It all depends on how much paperwork you want to fill out.
Sometimes you have to make a great commitment to start a business to do it.
It is actually shocking what you can buy if you had the interest, time and money to do it.
@wintermute_oregon Oh. I thought for sure it was illegal to have a weaponized tank or an #RPG.
It is difficult but not impossible. There was a place in Vegas that let you drive and shoot a tank.
Just do a google, you will be shocked at what you can buy.
Yes we can actually. You just have to jump through a few hoops.
