Isn't serving in the Israeli military required for certain age groups?
Was he born in Israel? I assumed he was born in the USA and opted to serve for dual citizenship. I admit that I haven't researched the guy at all. I don't care about him enough to do so.
Not for a US citizen, he volunteered. Even Israeli citizens can refuse for moral or religious reasons, some choose prison over murdering civilians.
