Isnt the whole point of meme formats to be stolen and reused in creative ways?

yes I think, but also, to capture the bits of message that are expressed in the meme, but not explicit, and to communicate the appropriately.

A meme is both the thing and the context of its use. What do you think you just fell out of a coconut tree?

agreed. that's the difference between stealing a joke format and a joke.

what's the difference between stealing $20K and stealing a meme?

one is highly immoral and should get you in serious trouble, and the other is just stealing a bit of money.
