If physical disc drives disappear, I might leave consoles and only use a Linux gaming PC as they would lose a big advantage in my eyes.
In a way, I guess we really need Xbox to get back to shape so that Sony doesn't become the only player in its market and doesn't try anything stupid.
This or Valve releasing a gaming console/pc for your leaving room for approximately the price of a ps5.
But I just made a comparison online as I was trying to buy Star Wars Jedi Survivor and the game is around 80 dollars on Steam, 40 dollars on the ps store and 49 dollars for the physical version on ps5 on a swiss (my country) online retailer. So when people are saying that games are always cheaper on pc, I don't think it's always the case.
A "console" like box, where games run on a click, without fiddling with anything, at competitive pricing and power. If valve can provide that, they can take over a huge market. Well, they are already doing it with SteamDeck, but a proper home console would bring them in direct competition with PS and Xbox.
I haven't looked at AAA games, but pretty much any indie I have looked up is cheaper on Steam than on Switch or PS.
Yeah it would need to be straightforward and with as little settings as possible as I don’t think it’s what console gamers are looking for. Just watching at videos about games running on Steam Deck and seeing how many different settings you have to choose to get the game running is depressing for me.
About the prices, I also checked Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty and it was 5 dollars cheaper on PS Store than on Steam. It’s clearly not a small indie game though..
Yeah, it's one of the biggest reason I moved to consoles. That and the fact that we didn't used to have much support for Linux gaming back in the day. Thankfully Valve has helped a ton with that.
