Most of the time when people say they have an unpopular opinion, it turns out it's actually pretty popular.

English, it's a non-rhotic R. Phonetically.... I don't know how to write it.

There you go. Some regional accents hit the rhotic R, and some approach the American pronunciation of ass again (old Westcountry accents especially).
