The analogy doesn't work. You wouldn't be calling the fire department. You would be calling the people that will just freeze the house in time for 4 years and then ask you to call them again.

And not voting is going "This is stupid I don't need to call them cause my neighbors will do so and so I should try and find another place to live" but not calling anyone and then go back to the house is stupid. Which is what most people do.
