Looks cool :)
How can I say... My Android keyboard is probably lacking the proper dictionary and is probably less reactive than the native app installed by default. Not sure this test can be accurately (even professionally) tested on any device :/.
Even a typing test on a keyboard is odd. My grandma surely gonna fail this test and not because she's old, but because she doesn't know where the different keys/letters are placed on the keyboard.
Or am I missing something here?
This is an ego fluffer app, not a scientific study. The accuracy is "good enough" to give you a rough idea of your performance, and if youre really into optimizing WPM, give you a way to track progress or the impacts of using different keyboards.
Getting a high score doesn't actually mean anything except you probably use your phone too much.
I think using the dictionary is cheating here.
That's weird. When I install keyboards I don't notice slowdowns but rather improvements due to the mainstream solutions being extremely bloated.
But that's what the test is about. It's not about how fast you can press keys. It's about using your key position knowledge.
I use heliboard, and it's definitely lagging compared to default google KB when typing on my phone.
I tried it on a tablet with 1 Gb of RAM. Most likely your device has a ROM issue.
Its a pixel 8a with plenty of ram and vanilla android...
It's a new phone. New Pixels tend to have ROM issues. It can also be a compatibility issue with a15.
It was the exact same om my oneplus 9pro i had before this one.
And it hasn't been any different between android 14 that I was on until a few days ago and 15 I have now without improvement.
That's certainly interesting. Did you try any other keyboards?
use FUTO or Florisboard. Fuck Google
Oh god no they suck tremendously...I'm using heliboard and live with the somewhat janky performance.
