Several students were injured on Tuesday (Nov 19) after a car crashed outside a primary school in central China's Hunan province, state media said.

"Many schoolchildren were injured, the specific casualties are being investigated," state broadcaster CCTV said.

Footage circulating on Chinese social media - which matched online images of the school - appeared to show the aftermath of the incident, with dozens of children running in panic away from the site of the crash.

About eight to nine people were injured and they included both students and their parents, said the eyewitness, adding that all the victims have been taken to hospital.

The crash took place outside Yong'an primary school in the central city of Changde, home to over five million people.

This is like the 4th attack on a crowd in China this week

Holy shit I only know of 2.

Is the car the gun of the Chinese? WTF is going on with people who want to murder the masses????

[-] bountygiver@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 hours ago

nah the car is the car equivalent as it is to the US. The death rates by cars are quite comparable. It's just it happens so frequently it is not worth reporting, and society has deemed the deaths acceptable to defend continue using them and keep the capitalism machine spinning.

It never fails to amuse me when Americans want other countries to have the same "mass murdering school children daily" thing we do. But it never is even remotely comparable.

Interesting what amused you.

For me, it was just an observation that I have seen a cluster of similar news stories, and you really should not read too much into such a simple statement.

”is the car the gun of the chinese" is the kind of question you will never see asked about the british due to their gun control. it is a strange thing to say if you think about it. the US is pretty infamous for car ramming attacks

what substitutes for guns is knives

Why? Because it makes you uncomfortable?

Americans shoot up schools and feel awful about it because we are incapable of dialectical thought. Chinese people, the billions there are, have murderers in the population like every other country. Conflating these things ("is the car the gun of the Chinese?') is insane and I will never not call it out when I see it.

Doesn't make me as uncomfortable as much as it makes you a pedantically sad 'edgelord'

It seems a lot more edgy to conflate a country's systemic school shootings with another's isolated mass casualties.
