Use an old computer. Get a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse controller. I have only ever had my TVs run by computer since I the mid 2000s. fuck smart TVs what a shit show.

I've been doing this since the early 2000's as well. Everything through a desktop.

one day my 2006 42" sony bravia is going to die. I will be very sad I have to by some new age bullshit, but at the very least ill be happy I dont have to deal with their spyware posing as convenience when the TV is permanently set to input 1 lol.

.....thinking about it, maybe I should buy a new TV now, just incase the TV's 5 years from now dont allow you to play from a physical input connection. Like a preemptive move in the endless game of enshitification chicken were all playing with companies.

Are you me? We bought the same tv around the same time. Thing has been across the country several times in moves and still keeps on keeping on. There is a local hotel selling off their old TVs (same one) for $50/each. I'll be grabbing one of those next week for sure.

I'm happy for you but unfortunately this isn't a solution for me, because old PCs don't have HDMI 2.1 support. I would have to buy a modern GPU, and I rather not spend hundreds.

Yea I don't fuck with 4K. I grew up with a tube tv you had to smack to make the picture work when it was humid out. I'm not guiding missiles or anything.

Old computers don't have HDMI 2.1 support, silly. I'd have to buy a modern GPU, and I don't want to spend hundreds just for a slightly faster interface.

Hmm, well when u get a new card u can toss the old one into another computer.

Or you can use any vid card since 07 with a display port to HDMI 2.1 adapter
