Anyone here get five servings of vegetables a day?

I know for a fact that I do not, like many other Australians, but I am trying to be more deliberate with it. You can add them to pretty much anything.

I eat a variety of fruit and veg everyday, but I genuinely don’t know. Honestly I don’t even know what a serve is. Is it a carrot? Half a carrot? Do tomatoes count? What if it’s a pasta sauce? Can I be bothered looking it up and counting? Nope. I think the nutritional guidelines should be made plainer and simpler. Best advice is eat a variety of foods, mostly plants, mostly not ultraprocessed, and in moderation.

If you put soy sauce on them it counts as two serves, don't ask me how that works but it does.

Must be beacause soy comes from beans and beans is a vegetable. Same is true for chocolate and coffee.

That’s a relief - I’m all good then

Speaking of dim sims….I feel like having that for dinner tonight.

This is the way.

Yep, put em in everything.

Most days yes, especially if you include fruit in that. Sometimes very few if I'm in, for example a cheese & crackers mood, but I think there are no days with none.

No I don't, but I do do 3 serves regularly and at least 2 serves of fruit. Good enough imo.

When I was on keto, I for sure was getting at least five servings. Salad for lunch, veggie stick snacks, veg with dinner. Nowadays, I have the diet of a 5 year old and I'm annoyed I don't put in more effort.

I'm trying but it's not easy on this diet

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 3 points 5 months ago

It varies. Some days I eat lots of veggies and other days not. I like to hope it balances out.

I never know tbh. I think I do??? I certainly don't eat enough fruit but I like to think I mostly get enough in... I never measure but when I haven't had enough I usually feel it and crave more. Actually, I could do with a garlicky broccoli now...

I usually have veggies with dinner - snow peas, beans, 1 or 2 types of capsicum and zucchini. Sometimes carrot if I can be bothered peeling, sometimes mushies

Yep. I eat a big bowl of veggies every day.
