The reality is that US government has always been a private club for the billionaire class, they just used to have the decency to hide it behind closed doors. Musk’s real crime is skipping the velvet rope and letting us all see the sausage being made. Bravo, Elon, for finally making oligarchy transparent.

Idk. Yes, not disagreeing with your take on liberals. But it still is pretty alarming what Musk is doing. Even if we know the US state operates on behalf of the ruling class, it's still unprecedented how one unelected billionaire is circumventing the modest levers of resistance the state apparatus has in order to slash public programs. In person, we shouldn't poo-poo on people's anxiety about it, but help them realize that this was always the end game of capitalism.

I'd argue that Trump and Musk are exposing how the system actually works to millions of people and disabusing them of the delusions about democracy. I very much agree that the job for communists is to leverage disillusionment, and to help people see this as a systemic problem.
