Is it possible to consolidate with a ML community? (lemmy.world)

I mod and post at !hardware@lemmy.world.

There is also !hardware@lemmy.ml, it has much more subs (~5K), but a lot less engagement. The ML community's mod also seems to have deleted their account?

I am not acquainted with the process for community consolidation and I am not sure if ML takes part in such initiatives. Do I need to reach out to the ML admins? What would be the next step if I wanted to propose !hardware@lemmy.ml to be merged into !hardware@lemmy.world ?

You can ask on !community_requests@lemmy.ml to get mod rights on the community. It's better to use a local account as some moderation features can be a bit finicky with remote accounts.

Usually what I recommend is opening a meta thread to ask the community what they want. You can see what I did in !dundermifflin@lemmy.ml

I see. I guess I will just start a thread on the ML community and see if there is any interest in consolidation.

Sounds good! I have an lemmy.ml alt, if at some point you reach an agreement on locking down the community I can do it for you with that alt.
