There's also the fact that any shot can be lethal. People die from being shot in the leg. There is no body part that can be shot safely.
There are weapons that are less lethal than guns. There are techniques to deescalate without weapons. Those would be better options in nearly every case of police shootings.
Its not reasonable to say that cops should use their death gun, designed to cause death, in a way that doesn't. When shooting someone with a gun the shooter has already decided to kill. The proper technique when shooting is to aim to the center of mass because that gives the highest chance of hitting the target, and not hitting things that are not the target.
ACAB. They should not be allowed to own or carry guns, but not because they don't aim for legs.
