In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.

Some Rules

Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
Don't promote proprietary software
Try to keep things on topic
If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

"The Transit App" is probably not that privacy friendly right? Are there any open source and privacy respecting apps for getting bus/train times by location?

I disagree.

OP wasn't at all specific about what kind of transit app they were seeking, as others have noted.
Whatever kind of privacy-friendly transit app they want, F-Droid is exactly the place to find it.
There are only a handful of each type there. Comparing that to an ocean is absurd.
Many people don't know about F-Droid at all, and just need a pointer to it.

You're allowed to disagree, but that's not really what I am doing here in the first place. Regardless of objectivity I'm just surmising the reason you are getting down voted based on my impressions of the thread and communicating that to you as you seemed to have no idea as to why people were doing so. What I have stated is my best possible guess as to the why. I could be wrong as well - I'm just suggesting what I expect would be the reasoning.
