Oh hey, I played Overgrowth too! The best fighting game never made, maybe.
Never made? Development took a while but they did release a final version, and apparently the source code is now open-source.
The game itself is good, although the ending was a bit surreal. The gem is the engine and graphics, the "feel", and that editor. It's too good, as in no one really used it to the potentials it could have been. There was even a multiplayer mod.
I bought it way back in the day, in the beginnings of the Humble Bundle, but it's never felt finished to me. Admittedly, last I remember of it was that tech demo which includes a few arena maps, so maybe it got updates I didn't play. I was really impressed with how the combat felt when it "clicked" though, even in the early stage.
I kept an eye on it, and grabbed the game on sale when it was finished. Definitely worth it. Also Workshop modded stories.
