I can drink a 6-cup pot of espresso and immediately have a nap

I can drink pot after pot of espresso every day (i love the taste and comforting warmth) yet if I travel or "miss" my morning coffee it changes nothing about how I feel or my energy level. No cravings ever.

I kind of would like to get the zap of a good caffeine buzz. It sounds like some kind of amazing out-of-body nervous energy

When I was a kid my friends used to love this stuff called "Jolt Cola" that was marketed as having "All the sugar, and twice the caffeine" of regular soda (lol)... I drank can after can of it and never clued into why I thought it was just regular soda, and my friends were going cuckoo berserk on it

It's a weird superpower. I'm also immune to codeine and similar, which I've come to understand are similar molecules... so it seems to explain something to me. I didn't figure any of this out until my mid 30's. Post-dental surgery, emergency visits and similar was always a huge battle because they'd think I was lying when I said the painkillers weren't working, assuming I was drug-seeking

For me is a combo, caffeine, even from a cup or green tea, makes me have sleep issues, but the anesthesics at the dentist or in surgeries take more time than usual to take effect. They did give me once, before a hand surgery, a intravenous shot of something and I was instant drunk and started laughing. It was so very odd!

I find your comment very interesting! Because I've always had issues with freezing at the dentist. All my life, dentists have been shocked when I tell them the freezing isn't working. They bonk a nerve just to prove I'm lying... then when I squeal they believe me. I've finally reached the "I'm not playing" phase of my life and I just flat out tell them "you're going to need 3x the regular freezing, this is my life" and that seems to have ended the constant battle of disbelief. Also even when they end up going ham with the needle and half my face feels paralyzed, it's all fine like 30 minutes after getting out of the chair. The entire freeze effect dissipates so quickly for me. I've had to be re-frozen many times mid-filling!

My doctors were never shocked, I suppose they‘ve seen many different situations. I did learn to tell them beforehand that these things happen to me, so they might take it in consideration. Bodies are so different, it is normal to react different to substances and foods. But with age we hopefully are more in tune with our bodies and start to learn how it works.
