I don't get it.
The bottom of a shoe is called the sole. Pronouced soul.
Soul =/= sole
Oh! 🤦♂️
One of todays 10,000
Now it's your turn to explain a cockworkorange....
In my experience, some questions should remain unanswered.
Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?
The summoning ritual was a success
It's a homophone. Spiritual Soul, as opposed to sole of your shoe. Or a flounder. Or the capital of South Korea. Or the one and only.
TIL, i pronounced those words differently, probably picked them up separately from hearing them said by a US person and a UK person
Now I want to know the two pronunciations.
Sole more like "sowl"/"soh-ool", a bit like Phil Collins does in Another in Paradise https://youtu.be/Qt2mbGP6vFI?t=112
Soul/Seoul: sōl, long o sound without inflexion
One and only? Somehow it made me remember Seal and now I've got Kiss from a Rose stuck in my head.
