Yep I'm a reddit refugee
I was permabanned for saying "bad bot" to a nazi apologist
Yet when an intimate video of me was being shared without my permission, they apparently couldn't do anything because it breached no rules
I got banned for saying a mod was on a power trip. I was permanently banned with no way to appeal. Been here ever since. Haven't been back. My wife showed me a reddit thread the other day about a serious topic and every single comment was a meta joke about nothing. I expected to see serious answers like the old days but it was just comment after comment of people trying to be the next broken arms or coconut fucker. I'm all for funny shit but it was all just cringe and my axe bullshit. That place is just awful.
It has devolved
I'm annoyed only because I had quite a number of genuine fans of my content, and reddit was kinda special to me because I'm now engaged to my biggest fan
That's like better than 99% of all bullshit on the Internet. That's such a cool thing. Reddit isn't (wasn't) all bad, but it became the Nickelback of websites. It used to be such a powerful tool for people but now it's... Just... Whatever it is.
My mom and step dad met on AOL in 1997 on a game called slingo lol. My half brother just turned 22 and they're still together. My mom lived in Texas and my stepdad lived in England at the time. There's always a good side to every thing online but it's def not the average user experience

I wasn't even having a wank in that one for a change
revenge porn or posting of non consensually released vids is now illegal in many places and reddit can be sued over it
course it requires some money to do so
It was a shitty situation, and it absolutely turned my life upside down
The bright side is that it gave me the push to do something I'd wanted to do for many years, but I was stuck in the golden handcuffs of my career
There's not a thing that I miss about my former life. Even the money was actually starting to become a problem, because it was turning into something that I was chasing purely for its own sake
It's funny where you end up sometimes, and absolutely crazy how we can get there
