Will this affect Matrix? I use g24.at as my homeserver.

Probably. I think they may fine homeserver operators in the EU, maybe even raid their homes or jail them. But to me its unclear whether hosting it, or also using it will be a criminal offence.

Hopefully neither, and we can jail the real terrorists, those who want to get this implemented.

E2EE comms are not monitorable. That's like, the whole purpose of using them.

Can you really talk about E2EE on a closed source app? The whole point of E2EE is I don't trust the vendor. If they give me a blob as a client and tell me it's E2EE, am I supposed to just trust them all of a sudden?
