Hmm. I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe. It's the quintessential feel-good story intertwined with dread, loss, and trauma. I definitely relate to Pearl's loss and subsequent issues. What are some of your favorites?
Absolutely shameful confession that I love Yami Shibai. It's just so trashy. I love the songs, the illustrations, the horror. Perhaps in that order. It's awful, I love it so much. Mononoke is *my "high-brow" answer, which is one of my favorites as a whole, but jeez do I love Yami Shibai. I feel like I could sit with the first six episodes of The Woman Named Fujiko Miine forever, and kinda let the other six drift off into the abyss. Speaking of absolute nonsense, I love Bly-Manor but I like The Turn of the Screw in any form. Especially that somekindofdifferent 90s adaptation, it's got about 700% less gay however. Watching a couple of minutes of this drew me right in. There's just something about it, it casts a hypnotic spell to my brain-bin. Speaking of queer, at the intersection of that and wholesome (well...er...SU) I love Magical Girl Friendship Squad. Which is sort of is SU and Puppycat had a baby and BLAM - you get this.
Toss more if you want!
Holy shit, I've gotta watch all of those. Are they mostly anime?
I watch a lot of 90s shows - Xena, Buffy, XFiles. They have the perfect combination of camp and charm that just does it for me. ReBoot is a really good one, too. It's the first fully 3d animated TV show and takes place inside of a computer. The main character is an antivirus program. Really neat concept.
