Sucks for the crew, did they even know they were headed to Israel before it was too late?

The Yemeni forces showed video, at least with Magic Seas, that they contact the vessel, inform them that they are violating a blockade, order them to slow their vessel and divert course or they "will be responsible for the lives and safety of their crew and vessel", and repeat this warning multiple times. These BBC and American articles never mention that part, so I was surprised to hear it, but it seems the vessels are given plenty of warning and opportunity to avoid being sunk.

The ship didn’t head for Israel. The ship was operated by a company that had also sailed to Israel with a different ship.

Sinking civilian ships does nothing to help Palestinians.

The company was also willing to violate the blockade, it seems likely they'd change their destination once they passed the blockade.

You’re just making shit up to justify the murder of innocent sailors.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You just said another one of their ships went to Israel, and we know thus ship violated the blockade, do you think the other ship was broadcasting that they were headed to Israel the whole journey? Or are you saying my assumption was unreasonable?

How do you think aid gets delivered to Gaza? By ship to Israeli ports and then on to trucks.

The Houthis blockade is not a legal blockade according to international maritime law because its neither effective not discriminate. It’s piracy and terrorism against civilian vessels. It also has achieved nothing for Palestinians.

On the contrary, the convention on genocide not only allows the blockade, but requires every signatory try to stop it.

You should read up on what a naval blockade is and how it‘s supposed to be conducted.

The people of Yemen are doing what they are able with the means they have. If a country with a proper navy was fulfilling their obligation to stop genocide, Yemen wouldnt have to risk their lives and meager wealth stopping ships from facilitating genocide.

The Houthis are still much better at killing Arabs, than Israel is.

90,000 dead children from famine.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famine_in_Yemen_(2016%E2%80%93present)

Annoying Israel and killing innocent sailors of course takes precedence over taking care of their own people.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Do you also blame the taliban for the famine in Afghanistan? Saddam for the famine in the 90s? Fidel for the Special Period? Turns out when you bomb a place to shit so their farmers arent able to grow and transport food, you get famine.

The Houthis started the civil war and continued for a decade with Iranian support. They don’t give a shit about the Yemeni population.

Attacking shipping in the name of fighting Israel demonstrates again how these Islamist fanatics don’t care about their own people. You are falling for a cheap PR campaign of one of the worst regimes in the Middle East.

The Houthis dont have to be perfect angels for the action of enforcing a blockade that economically huts Israel to be justified.

If the company didnt want to be targeted, it shouldn't have shipped goods to Israel and then violated the blockade again. Sucks that the sailors worked for a company willing to sacrifice their lives to profit off a fascist state. I'm sure there were good innocent civilians with families who were killed working for ships that transported materials to nazi Germany too. Doesnt mean they should have been allowed to pass.

Saudi arabia with the support of the united snakes started the civil war by backing the dictator Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi

Tell me you know nothing about any of those famines without telling me you know nothing about any of those famines.

How do you think aid gets delivered to Gaza?

it doesn't. israel makes sure of that.
