This is exactly the kind of rhetoric I'm talking about.

The simple reality is that on a national scale, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. It is simply pragmatic to take the path that allows us to help as many people as we can.

Jim Bob the convenience store clerk in a swing stare doesn't give a fuck. He can't feed his kids, and he lacks the fundamental understanding of reality to understand why that's the case. When he sees Dems courting the LGBT crowd, it is very easy to see why he sees this as evidence that they care more about special interest groups than his problems, which are also very real. So he goes to the side that is at least pretending to care about how he feels, even as they pick his pocket.

Do you want to win elections? Do you want to shift the window in the right direction? Or do you want to continue bitching about it, alienating the people you need to vote in your direction whether you like it or not? Regardless of your opinion, their votes matter and will be needed to ever get momentum rolling in the right direction.

You have unrealistic expectations. If you don't care what they think, how can you change their minds? We both know you're not going to arm yourself and overthrow the government. You have no leverage over these people. The only thing we can do is win them over, and your petulant angst in every venue in every corner of the internet decreases the chances of that ever happening.
