I recently (in the past couple of years) had something flare up from a small red dot to taking over my whole face within about 8 to 12 months. At first I was given a cream or two to treat for rosacea by a gp but eventually I got a referral to a dermo. Not that I can afford to see any specialist but I desperately wanted this stuff off my face (it was starting to get into my scalp and itch like crazy).
The dermo's first course of action was to treat for rosacea (I cannot remember if it was a cream or something else) which he said he was 90% sure is what I had. That did not work. Then he changed course and treated for something else with five months of antibiotics. That did work (it took about three to four months to really clear up).
There is still some light redness in the places where the issue started and initially appeared on. I'm just glad it's gone.
If you've not been referred to a dermo before I'd ask for one just to get a second or third opinion on the matter.
Thanks for the advice. Yes I need to get it all looked at. I had a course of antibiotics for a while. Doxylin that is also used to treat Ghonnereah apparently. I was on it for years until I moved and my new doc took me off them immediately. You're only supposed to be on the short term.
Cheers.
My parter was seen 3 dermos in 2 states (Qld, and 2 in Tas) and the plastics guys in the local hospital (who made it worse with their advice) as well as 4 or 5 GP's , still haven't sorted her problem out. Has an appointment with a Professor in Dermatology in Melbourne in November (she made the apointment in April) (skin issue on her leg)
Hey best of luck with it all.
