Jared Leto. All his best roles are the ones that could have been better, if they were played by someone else.
Who would you cast in his place in Dallas Buyers Club?
I hate him, too, but he was good in Blade Runner 2049. I mean, the role should have come naturally since he was playing a narcissistic sociopath.
Oh, I hated his role in Blade Runner 2049. Not his acting, just the role. It seemed forcefully implanted in the story to make it more action-filled. I also hated the recreation of young Rachel concept. It made no sense to me and felt like it should make no sense to Decart either. I wish Leto's role would have been toned down to allow for the film's meditative and well emotionally built parts to shine.
He was just playing himself yeah.
Agreed, but it's kinda fun seeing him get walloped in Fight Club tho
That is true. Good call.
Requiem for a Dream, though.
Aronofsky movies are hit and miss with me. They can be brilliant like Black Swan or melodramatic nonsense that mistakes dour abjection and misery with plot. I'd rather go with Trainspotting if I want the "drug addict's hell-ride" story. It comes up to breathe every so often with some levity and heart.
I'm NGL, I've only watched Requiem twice, the first time for a school project! Maybe it isn't as interesting as I feel it was. On the other hand, Pi is one of my favourite films and the one I rank highest in his filmography, maybe give it a try? 👍
See he is the opposite for me. He always seems well cast and he can act. I just dislike him as a person.
Like Mark Wahlberg, I like him IN things I've just never seen him in an interview or casual thing where I didnt think "I believe that IRL he is an asshole"
Is there a movie where he (Wahlberg) doesn't play "Jersey boy who made good"? I feel like it's always the same character with a different job facing a different crisis.
You think Wahlberg is a Jersey boy? What country do you come from? He has an incredibly noticeable Massachusetts accent which isn't anything like New Jersey's accent
The Happening
That new one where he plays a pilot/hitman looks interesting. I havent seen it yet but it is a departure from type.
I dunno. He was pretty good in Lord of War.
