This is honestly no heartbreaking. Regardless of what anybody thinks, this people are genuinely mourning what could be the closest they've had to a human connection in years. I don't what the solution is for vulnerable and lonely people like this, but it really is so sad
EDIT: after reading rayquetzatl's comment, I'm just more fucking mad at AI companies
I agree that it's heartbreaking and sad, but not for the reasons you seem to be saying.
The fact that they were so desperate for connection that they imagined one with Chat GPT is the sad part. Not that it was taken from them.
They need help, or maybe just some friends. Not... whatever this was.
I agree with you, it's depressing that they were in this position in the first place. I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though the connection was imaginary and even though this might be better for them in the long run, as far they're concerned they just lost somebody important. But yeah, the fact they got so attached in the first is the real tragedy
It isn't a human connection.
They are mourning the loss of having a tool reflect their deepest psychological desires back at them.
