So I've always had pretty bad handwriting for a number of reasons. But a few years back I started using fountain pens and I write so much better whenever I use them. It's not expert calligraphy or anything, no, but it's gone from legitimate cipher only I can understand to pretty readable. Idk why though, maybe I just don't have to press down as hard on them?

Handwriting was invented for fountain pens. It's not surprising that your writing would improve. I stopped handwriting and went back to printing a few years after being taught. I found it was just as fast (or faster I suspect), far more legible, and eased the pressure on my wrist. It was never intended for ballpoint pens.
