Putting her on the sex offenders register and finding her guilty of sexual assault seems beyond extreme to me. I can't even imagine going to the fuckin' cops if I was dating someone and later found out they were trans. Insane overreaction from both the dude and the legal system.

I wonder if the dude felt he had to go to these lengths to prove to his peer group that he's not gay or something. I guess going to the cops is still better than what usually happens when someone is angry with a trans person...

Meanwhile, where I am, if someone knows they have an STI and has unprotected intercourse with me and I'm infected, no chargeable offense has occurred.
