I have been winderjng about this. Is it people censoring themselves or is there some widespread initiative to clean up language on the internet? Is it a side effect of YouTube demonetising any videos with a somewhat controversial topic?
It's all about staying on the right side of the algorithms to get paid.
Some people think that when an advert is displayed as part of a post or video the advertiser is agreeing with the user generated content. So to keep the advertisers happy people use alternate words until those become "bad words for advertisers"
