do you think he actually screenshotted and made this, or he found the image and is reposting it?

because if you think he created the image, I have news for you.

If they're reposting it, they can take the extra 15 seconds to check TinEye for the original first. There is no good excuse for censorship.

You have a screenshot of the deed for a bridge, but the address is censored?

[–] Vince@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I have been winderjng about this. Is it people censoring themselves or is there some widespread initiative to clean up language on the internet? Is it a side effect of YouTube demonetising any videos with a somewhat controversial topic?

It's all about staying on the right side of the algorithms to get paid.

Some people think that when an advert is displayed as part of a post or video the advertiser is agreeing with the user generated content. So to keep the advertisers happy people use alternate words until those become "bad words for advertisers"

I’ve been scarred by previous experience with social media dictatorships.

Lemmy is full of friendly dictatorships, freedom of expression is allowed in most instances

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Except for nazi shit, you'll rightfully get banned pretty quickly for that sort of stuff on most instances. A lot of other platforms have freer speech in that regard, like twitter.

[–] dysprosium@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

Does praising Elon for starship fall under free speech?

[–] BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

Freedom of expression is not allowed if self censorship is the method of expression. Is what it is.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Depends on which instance. .ml for example will censor the word out.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Well, fuck them.

Original version

Also, to answer the most important question:

It was a 50 year old guy in a wheelchair that had a revolver in his shoe. He through it at the roach and the gun fell out and discharged, shooting him in the foot.

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

I gotta say, I enjoyed this almost as much as the idea of a cockroach shooting a man

[–] FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 3 weeks ago

Down voted for self censorship
