You should be able to respond to their rebuttal if what you’re asking them to do is truly logical.

Schoolwork was NEVER logical to him. Neither was cleaning up after himself.

As a young person, he had all the time and energy in the world to make his arguments.

As parents, we did not.

That’s an excuse not an arguement. Perhaps cleaning and homework are simply illogical.
