So this is apparently a sequel but I like the art style. Do I have to know anything about the first game to play this one?

We don't know yet if the first game's story ties in heavily to this one, but I would recommend buying Hollow Knight anyway because it's a fantastic game!

We don’t know because the reviews aren’t out yet or because effectively DDoS’d everywhere trying to buy game?
