I think the problem is it's a flight simulator, and those died as "video games." Nobody has a Sidewinder or Wingman joystick on their computer desks anymore, and they're not tremendously fun to play with a controller and exceptionally unfun with keyboard and mouse.

Flight sims are still around but they're way up in the enthusiast space adjacent to racing sims.

I played through Crimson Skies for the first time a few years ago and I heartily agree. So much fun! A bit janky though so yeah, a remaster would be fantastic.
