You mean that clicking? That was fixed in later APP1 generations and never occurred for me with the APP2.

I had the first and second generation AirPods Pros, and both unfortunately had this issue. I’ve read reports from others online that it also occurs on Beats earbuds. Something to do with the ANC hardware.

At any rate, I think the Sony buds are just as good in terms of sound quality and ANC. Their version of “Transparency Mode” isn’t quite as nice, but that’s not a dealbreaker for me.

If this is true, I am slightly annoyed.

I ditched my first gen pros in favour of the Sony MX6’s but miss the convenience of size.

I had brought my 1st gen with the clicking issue to Apple. Only had it on one side, but they've tested both and then replaced both for free. Never had any issues after that. And no issues at all with the 2nd gen. So, yeah, you might want to give AirPods Pro another chance. 😉

Man, I tell you, Apple service is really great (unless I was unlucky and lucky at the same time?).

I had like 4-5 times the cracking issue and each time they changed them for free even out of warranty. The employee told me something along lines of “you have the issue and so we will replace the AirPods Pro besides, there’s a law that a company needs to give a ‘decent product’ to its costumer. Even if out of warranty”.

Personally, I think the person stretched that rule far since it was out of warranty for like a year or one and a half year already. Still thankful.

I have had one out of warranty replacement for clicking AirPods but didn’t want to go through it again.

Now it looks like I may be spending more money on expensive consumer electronics that I don’t really need. My wife is going to hate me.

You think that offer is still available? I just recently found out about the recall and still got gen 1 clicky-AirPod Pro’s

Doesn't look like it. Their website says:

The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

But you could try asking at your local Apple Store.
