Yeah, funny, until the food disappears.
It sounds like all of this food was going to china.
The issue isn't this food in particular, it's what happens to the farmers going forward. A lot of independent farmers are on thin margins. One lost year of income could leave them unable to afford planting for next year.
Then the large corporate farms will happily slurp up the land at a discount thanks to some clever... "investments" in politics.
Yay more food monopolies. Nothing bad has ever happened when food is monopolized.
