Hopefully this is just the start of a new way to handling these situations. A number of other NATO countries in the area from Finland to Bulgaria could do the same.

No but their new president was still Russian's favorite candidate because he's ensuring political standstill by vetoing everything and using some anti Ukrainian populism.

Putin doesn't care if he's against Russia if the end result is deteriorating democracy, populism against Ukraine, and political standstill.
