Step 1: be a scientist.
Yeah that’s what my takeaway was too. He doesn’t talk about “how to get over there” it’s all about “once you’re there”.
To be fair, we are in the science community
Just by pure statistics most people interested in science won't be true scientists.
Kinda miss the days when all you needed to be a scientist was a knowledge of basic taxonomy, a steady hand, and a vast personal fortune.
Unironically... it is considerably easier to relocate as a scientist, if not only for the lack of language requirements (English is the lingua franca everywhere in academia) and being automatically a "high-skilled immigrant"
Also this is Nature News where my personal guess is 90% of their reader base work in academia sooo
And are scientists themselves
Get a phd is the first step, not to mention all the steps to apply for a phd plus all the bullshit and red tape to become one
